FREW
My
extracts from the Parish Registers of Kilsyth, Stirling, Scotland for years 1684
to about 1810. Some supplementary details are from the IGI
The FREW family tree is also
researched by Brian TULLIS < tullis@iinet.net.au > who has greatly helped by providing additional information, lots of
advice and cross-matching data. His FREW research is far more comprehensive, so
FREW researchers trying to connect to Kilsyth should also contact him.
The 1841, 1851 and 1861
census materials of Kilsyth were extracted and provided by Margaret KIRKPATRICK < eskirk@shaw.ca >

This tree is
provided to family historians without prejudice. I have constructed most of my
family trees using the data I have available, and in a few cases, it is
estimated as the best fit from available choices. In this tree, several of the links are yet to
be proved, so any help that you can give to confirm any line would be
appreciated by me and others searching in this family. More modern families
also need your inputs, because as I can link modern families to each other, and
thus it enables a focus on their common ancestry. The memories of one branch
may not be complete but yet may fill in gaps of another branch. Only by a
concerted effort can we really define the true lineage. Help me to help you by
sharing what you have. I have included the contributor's email addresses within
the file.
My thanks to you
all. Ken STEWART < kjstew@iinet.net.au > 2020.

ABBREVIATIONS USED
OPR-KS - the Kilsyth Parish Registers of
Scotland usually transcribed by me "KS" from films of the originals
KPR-KS - the Kilsyth Parish Registers of
Scotland confirmed by careful second transcripts of the original films of the
originals
IGI reg - from parish register films from
the International Genealogical Index of the Latter Day Saints. Usually a
reliable source. “Family Search” is not necessarily an “IGI reg” source
IGI - from non-recognised sources in the
International Genealogical Index of the Latter Day Saints. Not necessarily a
reliable source

The FREWs
in the OPRs & IGI for Falkirk and surrounds seem to indicate they were offshoots
from the Kilsyth families, but the early Falkirk registers need to be checked.
