This tree is provided to family
historians without prejudice, I have constructed most of my KITTO family trees
using the data I have available, and in a few cases it is estimated as the best
fit from available choices. In this
tree, several of the links are yet to be proved, so any help that you can give
to confirm any line would be appreciated by me and others searching in this
family. More modern families also need your inputs, because as I can link
modern families to each other, and thus it enables a focus on their common
ancestry. The memories of one branch may not be complete, but yet may fill in

GILL v. KITTO. This was an action brought by Mr. GILL of
Mevagissey, against Eleanor KITTO, his housekeeper, for the recovery of a gold
watch which he alleged had been detained by the defendant; he, however,
admitted that he had on certain occasions allowed her to use the article in
question.
Defendant asserted that the watch was given to her by the plaintiff, and called
several witnesses to prove the fact. This case occupied the court for several
hours, and caused some excitement. His Honor gave judgment for the defendant,
which was received with much applause, Mr ANDREW, of St Austell appeared for
the plaintiff, and Mr BISHOP of Fowey, for defendant.

Mevagissey, Con, West Briton and FATAL
ACCIDENT - On Thursday the 5th instant, as a loaded wagon, belonging to Mr
HICHENS, of St. Austell, was descending the hill into Mevagissey, a poor
woman named Ann KITTO, was ascending the hill at the same time, with a milk
bucket in her hand. She unfortunately
got on the wrong side, missed the bucket out of her hand, and stooping to pick
it up, fell before the wagon, and the wheel passed over her bowels. She
lingered until Friday evening, when she expired. An inquest was held on Saturday before Mr.
Carlyon, when from the evidence of a person who was on the spot at the time
of the accident, and also from the statement of the poor woman before her
death quite exonerating the driver from any blame, a verdict of
"accidental death" was returned. CORONER'S
INQUESTS - On Saturday at Mevagissey, on the body of Ann KITTO, aged 56
