About my KITTO files

These trees are provided to family historians without prejudice. I have constructed most of my KITTO family trees using the data I have available, and in a few cases it is estimated as the best fit from available choices. In most of the trees, several of the links are yet to be proved, so any help that you can give to confirm any line would be appreciated by me and others searching in this family. More modern families also need your inputs, because as I can link modern families to each other, and thus it enables a focus on their common ancestry. The memories of one branch may not be complete, but yet may fill in gaps of another branch. Only by a concerted effort can we really define the true lineage. Help me to help you by sharing what you have.

ABBREVIATIONS USED

Other than the standard abbreviations and Chapman County codes I also use

b. born, bp. baptised, m. married, d. died, bd. buried, cr. cremated

(IGI reg) to designate source of IGI materials with "registers" source codes

(IGI) or (IGI patron) to show IGI materials with another source (not always reliable)

Other sources may be abbreviated, hoping you are able to understand my intention.

"c" before year date to show an estimated year

"cc" before year date to show I have used the spouse's date data as a rough guide

The (Qx 18xx #5c/xxx St Columb) details are the GRO reference numbers for certificates. These are as follows (Quarter, Year, County code, Ref number, County District)

 

PRIVACY

For the sake of privacy, I do not put the full dates of birth, death or marriage of any known living person. For unknown individuals I allow 100 years from a known data of birth.

Addresses are usually not published for recent census or Internet Locations, unless I had found a different more recent location.

Full dates and addresses are kept in my private files, available to immediate family members for their genealogical studies.

 

A reminder that this file is in the development stage and there are still quite a few errors. Please let me know of any corrections or additions you can make. Any quoted references to St Catherine’s Indexes are my extractions and would need to be checked before ordering any certificates.

From Fran AITKENs - a newspaper clipping - undated but guessing it to be Victoria Times Colonist about 1975 - paraphrased:  Archie Kitto retired Saanich resident [part of Victoria BC Canada], age 84, built the original thatched roof in 1937 on the University of Victoria's Maltwood Museum building. The roof must be replaced [at the time of the article] and Archie says he's ready to do it. [I'm sure it wasn't replaced with thatch.] The article says that Archie Kitto comes from an old Cornish family. He was born in Porthleven, and graduated from Cambridge University. He has sailed in sailing ships and lived for a time on the Priaries. Further details followed.

PATTON, James - Passed away peacefully at Milton District Hospital on Wednesday August 14, 2013 with his family by his side. Beloved husband of the late Gladys (nee Griffin). Loving father of Dennis Patton (Debbie), Kenneth Patton (Wendy), Robert Patton and Debbie Kitto (James KITTOon Friday from 7-9 p.m. - ). Cherished grandfather of Shawn Kitto, Gordon Patton, Mike Kitto and Megan Kitto. James will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Friends may call at the SIMPLE ALTERNATIVE Funeral Centre, 1535 South Gateway Road, Mississauga (Dixie Road, two lights south of Eglinton Avenue), on Friday from 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday August 17, 2013 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow.

KITTO, Doreen Margaret (Crocker) February 6th, 1928 - January 19th, 2017 The Family is saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Doreen just shy of her 89th birthday. Mom is predeceased by her parents and brothers Rae and Ronald and survived by sister Audrey Benn. Doreen leaves to mourn, Frank, her loving husband of 58 years, children Richie (Rosita), Sharon (Steve) and Carol (Ken), 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren nieces and nephews. Doreen was employed by BCFP plywood div. and later worked for the Federal Government for many years before retiring leaving more time to enjoy hobbies. Camping with the family was enjoyed for many years in Parksville and the Okanagan. Frank and Doreen moved into boating and enjoyed their time cruising around the islands meeting up with friends. Joining an RV Club took them into motor-homing having new adventures and meeting new friends along the way. Always one for detail Doreen worked her green thumb and took great care to create a beautiful garden, having great successes with Rhododendrons, filling the yard with a riot of colour each spring, as well with clematis vines climbing high into the trees showing off their beautiful flowers. A lifelong hobby for Doreen was knitting, having made many many sweaters for family members to wear and enjoy. A classy lady with a flair for fashion Doreen liked to wear her favourite colour aubergine (purple). So we say Good Night Doreen we will see you in our dreams. The family would like to thank Dr. Phillip Kelly, James Bay Care Centre and Broadmead Lodge for their care. A Celebration of Life for Doreen will be held at First Memorial, 4725 Falaise Drive on February 2nd, 2017 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers those wishing may make a donation to the SPCA.
