About my KITTO files

These trees are provided to family historians without prejudice. I have constructed most of my KITTO family trees using the data I have available, and in a few cases it is estimated as the best fit from available choices. In most of the trees, several of the links are yet to be proved, so any help that you can give to confirm any line would be appreciated by me and others searching in this family. More modern families also need your inputs, because as I can link modern families to each other, and thus it enables a focus on their common ancestry. The memories of one branch may not be complete, but yet may fill in gaps of another branch. Only by a concerted effort can we really define the true lineage. Help me to help you by sharing what you have.

Ken STEWART < kjstew@iinet.net.au > 2020

ABBREVIATIONS USED

Other than the standard abbreviations and Chapman County codes I also use

b. born, bp. baptised, m. married, d. died, bd. buried, cr. cremated

(IGI reg) to designate source of IGI materials with "registers" source codes

(IGI) or (IGI patron) to show IGI materials with another source (not always reliable)

Other sources may be abbreviated, hoping you are able to understand my intention.

"c" before year date to show an estimated year

"cc" before year date to show I have used the spouse's date data as a rough guide

The (Qx 18xx #5c/xxx St Columb) details are the GRO reference numbers for certificates. These are as follows (Quarter, Year, County code, Ref number, County District)

PRIVACY

For the sake of privacy, I do not put the full dates of birth, death or marriage of any known living person. For unknown individuals I allow 100 years from a known data of birth.

Addresses are usually not published for recent census or Internet Locations, unless I had found a different more recent location.

Full dates and addresses are kept in my private files, available to immediate family members for their genealogical studies.

Family history from Sonia GROGONO – "I am excited to find my great grandfather, Samuel KITTO, 1843, remarried to a third Elizabeth and living in Newquay in 1901! Her two sons William and Samuel BROWN are living with them, so she was the widow BROWN when she married Sam KITTO. Very interestingly, the son John Henry KITTO, 1865, was a visitor in the home of Elizabeth BROWN, widow, and her two sons William and Sam in 1891 in Bolingey! I think this Elizabeth was the sister-in-law of Bess BROWN, Samuel's second wife."

Notes #1 "A Builder's Life in Perranporth", 1910-1938, by Tom TREMEWAN

"I had fallen in love with the L shaped bungalow. My first experience of this type of building was the erection of a wood structure made in sections by an up-country firm and delivered to a small meadow at Reen. It was the property of Mr Nono Kitto who was a cousin of my mother. The preceding generation lived at Rose, one of whom was my grandmother. Her maiden name was Louisa Kitto, who married Thomas Warne. One of her brothers, with his family, went to live in the Isle of Man, and one of the sons, the ninth child of the family (thus the name of Nono) came back to Perranzabuloe, when an elderly man, and bought the meadow situated in the lane between Mr May's farm and what was then Mr Grigg's farm. It was a nice plot with a lovely view of Perranporth. It was here that we prepared the concrete foundation and erected the L shaped wood bungalow. I was attracted by the good arrangements of the rooms and decided to use the design in future concrete buildings, which I did........"
