Walter T. Cooper, a designer for Grummond Aircraft, and resident of Mountaindale, died Friday February 11, 2005, in Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 87. The son of Thomas H. and Rhea Grove Cooper, he was born August 28, 1917 in Brooklyn, N.Y.
He was a member of the Woodridge United Methodist Church, GUNY Retiree Club and the NRA. He was a World War II Army veteran and received the Philippines Liberation Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal, two Bronze Service Stars, Asiatic Pacific S… ervice Medal and Good Conduct Medal American Service Medal.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Rhoda Cooper, at home; one daughter, Barbara Martin, and her husband, Gregory, of Yakima, Wash.; one son, Thomas Cooper, and his wife, Debra, of Seymour, Tenn.; four grandchildren: Suzanne Muhrfield of Pittsburgh, Pa., Jennifer Paolini of Bayport, L.I., Joseph Cooper of Knoxsville, Tenn., and Jared Cooper of Knoxsville, Tenn. He was predeceased by one brother, Laton Cooper. Interment to follow in the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
